Problem Discovery
Artists struggle to showcase their work effectively, while jurors find it challenging to discover emerging talent through art competitions.
Looking back on my experience as an artist, I've observed a recurring challenge among myself and my artist friends. Finding art competitions worldwide can be a challenge, leaving us feeling lost and unsure of where to look or who to ask. I often find myself questioning why navigating the art world proves to be such a challenge for most people.
Problem Discovery
Shrive is tailored to users' interests, enabling jurors and organizations to easily post and announce events. The interface displays event details and status through numbers and graphs. Jurors can browse diverse artists, view profiles, and seamlessly contact them for participation or collaboration.
ROLE
UI/UX Designer
TOOLS USED
I interviewed jurors and artists to learn about their experiences and difficulties. I asked artists about their challenges in finding upcoming art competitions, their motivations for participating, and their goals. I investigated the jurors' experiences in finding new talent, their reasons for looking for different perspectives, and their objectives in handling competition submissions.
How might we create a streamlined platform that connects artists and organizers to ensure artwork reaches the right stage?
Feature Strategising
Utilizing insights from user research, we aim to create a feature set that addresses gaps in the art competition and promotes a more connected and accessible community.

Prototype
Created a sketch prototype for Shrive to conduct quick user testing, with the goal of validating the concept for both artists and jurors. The prototype allows users to experience the platform from their chosen identity, with distinct interfaces for each, helping to determine if the design effectively meets their needs.
Wireframe
Developed low-fidelity interactive prototypes that emphasized Shrive’s core functionality and user flows from both the artist and juror perspectives. By sharing these early wireframes with stakeholders, I gathered crucial feedback to refine features and interactions. As the wireframes evolved, I enhanced their fidelity, crafting more detailed designs that served as a blueprint for the final product. This iterative process helped identify potential challenges early, ensuring a more intuitive and user-friendly experience for all users.
